August 2011
At The Tattoo Learning Center, we had an absolute blast filming our 1-hour TV show pilot on the TLC channel.
It aired 6 times this summer to record ratings!
We feel so lucky to have had a chance to show the world what we do. We are proud of our curriculum, that has taken many years to hone, and we feel the show accurately portrayed our spirit and energy.
The production company was a charming group of passionate people that basically stood back and let us do what we do while they simply recorded the events…..that was “Tattoo School”.
Our mission here is to allow people to learn how to tattoo in a safe environment.
We teach the tattoo fundamentals: safety, sterilization, BBP, universal precautions and then: a lot of technique and many other things that are helpful for people that are just starting out.
To those who may not know, there are currently no regulations in place for people who want to begin tattooing. They may purchase equipment from anywhere and “go to town“….this is NOT a safe way to begin.
Since you are dealing with potentially hazardous human body fluids, prior training to understand safety for you and your customer is PARAMOUNT!
Some of you in the tattoo community had a problem with our show and the other tattoo TV shows. It seems you’d like to keep it underground and secretive. Tattoos are mainstream now and have been for the past decade. When bankers, doctors and teachers started coming in for my tattoos 11 years ago, I knew I was witness to something revolutionary!
It is necessary to realize that tattoo schools are here to stay. Because of our TV show, we have made new friends in the field that see tattoo education as an important component. We support our mission and the many other conscientious tattoo educators out there.
So instead of posting fake pictures up of our school, harassing and threatening us, and using unspeakable words, consider channeling that energy into something positive.
There are a lot of people in YOUR town that can use some help.
There are many charities that you could be fundraising for, there are many art classes that you could benefit from.
Step away from the keyboard and make a difference in someone’s life……you may be surprised at how good it feels.
